Ideal for the chemically sensitive or those with small children, the Bissell Steam Mop deep-cleans hard-surface floors using the power of pure water alone. No harsh (or expensive) cleaners means no fumes or residues to irritate lungs or muddy delicate finishes, while the use of hot steam rather than buckets of water leaves floors dry in just seconds. Heated and ready to use in 30 seconds, the remarkably quiet mechanism works something like an iron: steam is dispensed on demand, rather than continuously, by pressing the trigger while passing the mop over the floor. Hot steam easily removes hardened and sticky gunk, especially if the mop sits over the mess for a few seconds. (Leave it in place 15 seconds to actually sanitize the cleaning surface.) The machine steams for approximately 15 minutes before the tank needs to be refilled, but there's no lag once you refill it.

Comment: The first time you use the product, the pad becomes black from the plastic at the bottom of the device. The black does not come off in the wash. Although the red light indicates that the device is ready, it takes a long time for the device to emit steam. The other issue is that if you are only using distilled water, is the floor really clean? It is easier to use than a mop but again I am not sure how clean you are really getting the floor.

Comment: This works great. It's chemical free and the floors are left clean with no sticky residue. It is a lot quicker than doing floors by hand or with other mops. It even steams the hairspray off the bathroom floor with ease.
Some reviews express concerns because it leaves water residue behind, and it doesn't pick up debris off the floor. As for the debris, you simply have to sweep the floor before washing it, just like you normally would before mopping. As for the water, it does leave a wet residue but it dries quicker than other washing methods. I would't use it on wood floors due to this, but it works great on other hard floors.
Overall, it's been a huge time saver, it works great, and it's chemical free. Highly recomended for anyone with lots of hard floors to wash.

Summary: Works better than a mop 2010-08-20
Comment: I purchased this steam mop for tile bathrooms at my fitness center. I have used a conventional mop with water and floor cleaner, and started to notice the grout lines seemed to not be clean. After using the steam mop a few times, you can notice a difference in the overall cleanliess of the floors. I will sometimes use a spray bottle with floor cleaner, to aid the steam mop, if the floors are exceptionally dirty. Great product for a great price!

Comment: The Bissell Steam Mop Hardfloor cleaner is wonderful! It cleans the floor great. You dont have to use messy soapy water. You dont have to keep refreshing the water to make sure its clean. The best thing is you dont have to wait for the floor to dry!!! It is wonderful if you have kids cause the floor wont be dangerously wet and it kills all the germs. I highly recommend this product its great!

Summary: Leaky Steam Mop 2010-08-17
Comment: This is my second steam mop. The first one was great until it just stopped working. I love the old one so much I bought another but it leaks everywhere. Especially when you leave water in it and put it away or just walk away from it. It also does not have the steam that the first one did. I will say that it's better than nothing
