Product Review
Amazon.com Review

A powerful 780-watt motor and fourteen accessories allow this hand vacuum to tackle stairs, floors, molding, upholstery, and other cleaning jobs in the house, garage, car, or RV. Two extensions for the hand vacuum are possible: a flexible hose for upholstery and inflation; and a 28-inch wand comprised of up to three plastic press-fit tube sections. Devices that fit the wand include the floor head, crevice tool, and molding brush. Three adaptors allow the vacuum to inflate rafts, air mattresses, and beach balls, while the blower function clears leaves from patios and crumbs from a kids' party. Two of the most-used accessories--the crevice tool and brush tool--conveniently store on board the vacuum. A handy drawstring bag keeps the various accessories from getting lost, and the 20-foot power cord lets the vacuum easily reach all corners of a room. A Clean Filter indicator lets you know when the 13-ounce capacity dirt bowl needs to be emptied, a procedure as simple as pushing a button and shaking out the contents. Conveniently compact, the hand vacuum measures 11-1/2 by 4-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, and is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

Summary: Dirt Buster Filter very faulty 2005-12-04
Comment: This is a great little vacuum cleaner but the filter is very difficult to clean and fills up before the dirt chamber really has any dirt in it at all. Consequently I find it very frustrating to use. I bought it to clean up ashes around my woodstove because the company touts it as being able to pick up nuts and bolts. It vacuums up the ashes very well, but the filter fills up so fast that I have to clean it out every time and I always find the dirt chamber to be fairly empty. I suspect that the suction is so strong that it is attempting to clear the chamber through the filter...and can't. It really needs to be redesigned.

Summary: Serious Disappointment 2004-05-13
Comment: This vacuum has a very powerful moter and, as advertised, will actually pick up nuts and bolts neither of which I have laying around my kitchen floor. The filter design is lousey. It is not designed for the fine dust this machine can pick up and it fills up long before the "cup" designed to hold the nuts and bolts. I cannot finish vacuuming my kitchen floor without cleaning the dust filter at least once - and contary to what you may believe my floor is not filthy. I have contacted Black & Decker 2x's and their response it to send me more filters. The power of the machine is great, hopefully Black & Decker will redesign the filter system.

Summary: Perfect little vacuum for light cleaning. 2004-05-06
Comment: I love this little vacuum. It has very, very strong suction. The many attachments give it versatility and let you choose what works best for you. I did not find them at all frustrating or confusing - the one page instruction sheet clearly shows recommended configurations for different jobs (upholstery, corners, floor molding, etc.). But I tried a couple of configurations and quickly found that the stick and floor attachments are excellent for my furniture - especially in removing pet hair, and it's wide, so I can cover the surface quickly. The other pieces were a little small for the job. I would prefer a longer (or a second) hose attachment, as well as a little better upholstery attachment and a separate dusting attachment, but the attachments from my regular vacuum also fit this one, so this won't be a problem for me. Still, I fully recommend this little gem.

Summary: Powerful but complicated 2004-02-27
Comment: This vacuum is wonderful for those who need a small, very powerful vacuum, for a small space. I use this for my darkroom, and it's pretty much perfect.

However, it has too many attachments, with bizarre adapters, and even comes with a quick reference sheet to help you figure out how to get each one one. Someone needs to get fired at Black and Decker, immediately.

I gave the vacuum and a bag of pieces to my friends father, who has worked in carpentry and construction for 20 years, and he had serious trouble figuring out how to get on certain pieces.

I was just laughing when I started to read the instructions. If they had just made everything connect via tubes, like any other normal vacuum, everything would be great. I just use two different pieces, and put the rest of the attachments in a box.

It is loud, but that comes hand in hand with being very powerful.

I don't think they really intended it to work out this way.. but you can use the blower mode to clean out the filter, which fills up very quickly.

Summary: One serious improvement needed. 2004-01-06
Comment: I bought this vacuum for my wife as a gift. I was quickly impressed with it's powerful suction and all the attachments. We have wood floors in our kitchen and several area rugs and this machine looked like just the right tool. There was just one problem. When you hook all the tubes together to make a long stick vac the only way it attaches to the vacuum is by snugging it inside the end. This becomes problematic with the weight of the attachment. It fell out over and over while vacuuming the rugs. Black and Decker could have easily solved this by making it a secured attachment on the end of the vacuum, click into place if you will. Without it it just keeps falling out rendering it useless. My wife suggested using two hands, one on the unit and one on the tube but that is hard on the back. A decent product with one major flaw. Since this was the primary use I returned it.
