Summary: poor craftmanship 2008-11-20
Comment: I loved this vacuum until it started to fall apart. It began with the very short cord getting stuck and then frayed. That was wrapped with electrical tape. Then the hose tore at the point of entry to the canister. Again we used electrical tape to hold it together. Finally, the hose tore at the other end and out comes the electrical tape again. Instead of a 2 year vacuum, it looks like a 10 year vacuum. It also flips over easily and the attachments fall out and we lost one. Soo, I guess the moral of the story is don't get a Bosch vacuum!! Also, it was overpriced for the quality and forget about the service!

Summary: It really Sucks 2008-02-22
Comment: It's relatively quiet and has good suction, but I'm sure this is the worst investment we've ever made. I thought for $500 this would be a quality product. After the third or forth use, the flimsy accessory compartment door wouldn't stay closed. When we pick the vacuum cleaner up, this flimsy door swings open and the attachments fall out. Then, the second time we changed the bag, one of the weak plastic hinges that hold the blue plastic canister cover broke off. Now when we go to change the bag, the top of the canister cover hangs by one hinge and we must carefully position it back in place to close it. We've only owned this vacuum cleaner for four months and we've treated it gently! It's still under warranty, but we haven't yet been able to find out how to get it serviced under the warranty. Needless to say, we are very disappointed in the poor quality of this product. Any $75 canister vacuum cleaner would be far better quality. The people who have written good reviews here will soon find out that this vacuum cleaner will fall apart

Summary: Great vacuum 2008-01-15
Comment: I love this vacuum. My Eureka recently broke and I have to say I am really glad that I happened upon the Bosch. I was not really interested in buying a canister vacuum but after using it, I am glad I did. It is really maneuverable, moves easily around corners and hard to reach places. It also has several attachments that allow for cleaning in tight spaces and window blinds, hard surfaces etc... I am really happy with the transition.

Summary: Caveat Emptor!!!!! 2007-09-25
Comment: I'd give it ZERO stars but that wasn't an option
If the retracting cord binds (and the vacuum is out of warranty), plan on throwing the unit away.
I probably used this machine a couple dozen times when the cord pulled part way out and jammed. Trying to open the clamshell to free the cord proved to be a nightmare.
There are some screws visible. The trick is there's one screw hidden, and it can only be accessed by pushing in on a section of the back panel to expose the head.(The only reason for doing this is to generate income for the service center)
There are muliple printed circuit boards inside and the point to point wiring between these PCB's is design for the unit to be serviced by a robot not a human.
After getting the unit open it was obvious little plastic supports that hold the retracting reel together were sheared off, that resulted in the cable turning into a rats nest.
The design of this vacuum is intended to ensure a healthy income for people at the the Bosch sevice center.
I really liked this vacuum until this situation occurred. At this point it's headed to the dumpster....

Summary: Great until it broke 2007-06-25
Comment: We purchased this vacuum cleaner in November 2006. We previuosly had a Kenmore canister that broke after 5 years. We loved the way the Bosch worked, the quietness and the ease of vacuuming. Our house has mostly hardwood floors & tile and the only carpeting is on our stairs and bedrooms. The vacuum is only used once a week. It lasted 6 months. That's when the fun began. Their customer service is lousy. There is only one service center in California. I live in San Diego and the service center is 600 miles away in SF. In addition, Bosch requires you to mail the vacuum cleaner at your own expense even though it is under warranty. This will be the last product I buy from this manufacturer. I expected more from them especially in this price range.
