Dyson DC28 Animal

Comment: I have had this dyson for about 3 years now. and let me tell you the filter Does clog! it is a real dirty mess to clean it up. But you still can't get another vacuum to clean like ths one. I was worried at first because it's PLASTIC, but soon learned that it is VERY DURABLE! I have a single level home like others that have mentioned before. I wouldn't like this big beast if I had to lugg up stairs, but for a single level home or if you're a young man it is the Best I have found as much as it upsets me that the filter does clog, Everytime I use it. I have to use a brush to clean out the filter. I still will not go with another vacuum. I paid a lot for this vacuum and am still happy that I did. Like others I vacuumed with my old Eureka vacuum immediately followed with the Brand New Dyson, and OMG! I had to empty the dyson twice before I finished I didn't realize how Filthy my floors were before that. Now when I vacuum it truly is CLEAN and NO DUST FLOATING AROUND TO CLEAN UP LATER!! I have to dust less, I have less trouble with my sinuses too.

Comment: The Dyson DC28 Animal is a great choice of a floor vacuum for people with pets. We have two dogs and two cats, so you can imagine the hair build up every day from shedding.

Out of the box I was very impressed with the Dyson's ability to suck up the hair from the carpet. It looks practically new again. I filled the canister with a small area even after having just used my old vacuum!

The power no matter the carpet or bare floor is unmatched with the main power head. I was extremely impressed and pleased. Even the kids wanted to use the Dyson!

The fact that the canister had to be emptied a little more often than my old vacuum was of no consequence to me because of the sheer power of the vacuum.

Then I went to use the attachments...

The fact the wand has to come all the way out of the unit is a pain, especially when all I want to do is get that one small spot and I have to guide the end into the crevice or some small space... Makes it unwieldy.

I tried using the mini power head to do the stairs and finally gave up, the suction power that was so great in the upright portion of the unit was lost as soon as I put that mini piece on. Sure the brush spins fast, but that's all it does, the suction is seriously lacking. I would have to go over the same spot multiple times to pull up the surface dirt.

I'm happy with my purchase for doing the floors, I just have to find something else to do my stairs. That makes me unhappy.

Dyson is getting a nasty letter regarding their accessories.

Comment: This Dyson vacuum [DC28-Animal] now in use three months, has replaced a top-of-the-line Miele Blue Moon canister AND monthly maid service! On the first use I filled the container four times [2 bedroom home] with all the bits, dirt, and cat hair that neither the Miele nor the maid service had picked up. [...easier to maintain after the first deep cleaning.] I am not sure what else I can say in praise better than that!

The setup was intuitive and easy with the included pictographs. The tools are all quick to add and remove.

cons: The included crevass tool is too big, with no narrow tip for getting deep between seat cushions. No included hard floor tool with bristles. [The included flat head floor tool or the unit itself with brushes off still feels a bit wrong on wood and tile flooring after so many years using a brush tool.] The cord is not self-winding takeup, however it is quick-release. Only two tools can travel on-board.

pros: ease of use, an extra-long cord gets to more area with few stops to change wall plugs! easy to empty larger cannister [than other Dyson models] with one-click open, TERRIFIC suction, very-good suction powered upholstery tool, 2 hepa filters that are cleaned, NOT replaced [save a bundle here annually]! tools that work, the flat head floor tool is clearly superior under furniture with little clearance, easier to store than canister, 5-year warranty shows they stand behind their product

Comment: The vacum is very powerful and works great. The reason I didn't give it a five out of five stars is it is a little bulky and can be a little hard to maneuver. I suppose the dyson ball might be easier to use. But in the end I am quite happy with its performance and would rate the Dyson Animal very highly.

Comment: The Dyson DC28 Animal was delivered within a couple of days. It was a breeze to put together. I am amazed at how clean our rugs got from using the Dyson DC28 Animal the first time. I never realized how much hair there was on the rugs. The rugs are so much more vibrant and look new. Emptying the hair and dirt is easy although you need to give the vacuum piece a few good shakes over the trash container to remove all the hair. The Dyson is a bit heavier than my canister vacuum to carry and push around. I find the deep cleaning to be the best cycle for ease of use and cleaning of my rugs. The vacuum is very powerful and also does great on bare floors. If you are seeking a vacuum that can deep clean and effectively remove pet hair, this vacuum is for you. You will not be disappointed with the results.
