    Designed by engineering guru James Dyson, inventor of the cyclonic vacuum, the 12-amp Dyson DC07 upright is an inspired combination of power and structural smarts. At the center of the machine's innovation is the Cyclone air path design, an eight-section chamber that creates powerful, consistent suction. The conical chambers generate 100,000 g of centrifugal force, pushing dust and dirt out of the airflow into the vacuum's 1-gallon collection cup. With no bag to clog, the vacuum's 270 air watts of suction remain steady. The large, transparent collection cup is easy to check and empties tidily--pop it off, hold it over a trash bin, and pull the trigger to release dirt without having to touch it. The DC07 also comes equipped with a multipart filtration system to improve overall air quality in the home. The HEPA filter, measuring 412 square inches in surface area, traps microscopic particulates and allergens. Expertly built, the filter is designed to last the lifetime of the machine.

    Suitable for bare floors and carpets, the Dyson upright features a 14-inch cleaning path and edge-cleaning bristles. A simple foot pedal switches off the brush roll for bare floors, and the nozzle automatically adjusts for changes in carpet height.     Comment: this vacuum is truly an animal. i got it, switched it on, vacuumed our 3 rooms and took the fur equivalent of our small cat out of the canister... and this after first vacuuming with the old miele i had nearly every day! i could not believe my eyes what came off my floors with this dyson! it is an unbelievably effective machine. no other vacuum i ever owned was this thorough. it's also fairly light and not too loud. i love it.

    Comment: We purchased ours from [...], refurbished. It arrived (after a long wait) as others have said, "Dirty, used." Debris in canister, machine very dusty, and some type of seed pod stuck in the rigid extension tube. Called customer service, displeased with this and was pretty much told, "Well, you did buy a refurbished one..." No offer to send it back free, no offer to clean and return it to us, etc. In fact, customer service said unless it was deemed broken we would incur all cleaning, repair, and shipping charges.

    Now on to the vacuum.

    I detest the rigid extension pole. Inflexible and I don't see how this adds to the design or function.

    This vacuum does not vacuum close to baseboards. For this area you must use the rigid extension pole or disassemble the pole and get down on hands and knees to clean with the softer short part of the hose.

    The hose, extension pole or not, is not long enough to have vacuum cleaner at bottom of stairs and reach up to top of the stairs. Must do bottom stairs with vacumm at bottom of stairs, then haul vacuum cleaner upstairs to clean uppermost stairs. (Thankfully we saved the extension hose from our old dead vacuum and it sort of fits together with Dyson's hose, so we can get away without hauling it if we use that and it doesn't come apart.) Dyson's photo of the person vacuuming stairs is misrepresentation of how long the hose is.

    It is a powerful vacuum for basic floors (other than the edges, that is.) Like others have said, it removed dirt and lint from our carpets that we didn't know was there because we thought our carpet was clean after using our other vacuum.

    I like the bagless canister. A little dusty for disposal into trash, but at least I know when it's full and can tell if I vacuumed up a toy and easily retrieve it.

    The cord wrapping/storage area was an afterthought by the company. When the cord is wrapped up on its 2 storage hooks, you are unable to pull up the extension pole and use the hose piece for vacuuming. I would prefer to be able to unwrap only a small part of the cord, vacuum a small spill, and be done without having to rewrap the entire cord again.

    Not as noisy as our old vacuum was.

    Comment: I was hoping I'd be one who received "one just like new". I was not. The one I received was dirty, the cord was cut in 2 places, it made loud noises going from hardwood to carpet. Also the canister fell off. I will
    applaud Amazon for their customer service in handling this situation. It was a little hassle to haul the heavy thing to UPS but shipping was free and my refund was prompt. Thank you Amazon.

    Comment: I'd been using my Hoover for years, which I thought did an adequate job. My carpets always appeared clean. Then, sadly, one day my Hoover died. I was hesitant about buying a reconditioned Dyson since it restricts the warranty. However the unit arrived in pristine condition. The only difference between the unit I received and a brand-new one, from what I could tell, was tape holding one of the accessories to the main body for shipping purposes. All the manuals, parts, etc were spotless and nothing was missing from the package. It was easy to assemble, although it did take me about 20 minutes to get all of the parts together.

    MAN, did the first trial run open my eyes. I went over my 760 square feet of carpet and the couch cushions. The trapped dirt (deep within the couch cushions and low-pile carpet) literally filled the dirt canister on the first pass. This thing sucked dust out of cushions that I'm sure has been there for ages. My allergy reactions have been reduced dramatically, and after regular use (2-3 times a week for the last 7 months) the suction hasn't suffered at all. I'm extremely pleased with this vacuum and would give it 10 stars if I could!
